RED ROCK CASINO, PENTHOUSES, LAS VEGAS, NV - Situated atop the new Red Rock Casino overlooking the adjacent Red Rock Mountain range, this group of six penthouse suites is the capstone of the new complex.  The suites are organized along a linear circulation path running parallel to the exterior of the building.  This lateral arrangement combined with a split level floor configuration guarantees dramatic views for each space in the units.  Rectilinear wall elements oriented at right angles to the view establish a cadence of spatial zones, each discrete in its function and material palette yet each flowing freely into the next area to create a luxurious sense of amplitude, ease of movement and accessibility.

Although the spaces are simply-formed inter-penetrated areas, the wall, floor, and ceiling surfaces are clad in rich and varied materials which set the tone for each suite.  Whereas one suite is carried out in a combination of browns and greens -- a mixture of stone, leather, wood, and metal -- the next is black and grey.  Though the color palettes are sophisticated and complex, all of the chromatic features are the consequence of the natural properties of the materials from which they are made.

Not merely color but also patterns and textures are intrinsic to the design.  The overall effect is an orchestration of finishes that are alternately rough and smooth, patterned and solid, shiny and matte.  The palettes of each suite reinforce the spatial experience of overlapping planes and volumes.  This material authenticity creates a thematic bridge to the Red Rock Mountains outside whose name and color is similarly derived from the material out of which they are formed.

The suites combine bedrooms, baths, entertainment areas, dining rooms, service kitchens, and extensive audio-visual infrastructure.  An island tub combining water and fire is the centerpiece of the master bath and bedroom.  Concealed lighting that has been incorporated directly into the architectural detailing -- rather than excised from it -- is the norm throughout.
